The close contest between AD+PD and Momentum for third place in Malta's May 30 snap parliamentary election reflects their pre-electoral cooperation and coordinated candidate placements across districts, which aims to maximize combined support and challenge the longstanding Labour-Nationalist dominance. Recent polls place both parties in low single digits behind the major contenders, with AD+PD edging ahead amid shared emphasis on political funding reforms, reduced prime ministerial powers, and greater transparency. Momentum's targeted proposals on public-sector independence have added visibility, yet overall minor-party fragmentation and limited polling data sustain the tight implied probabilities, with any late shifts in voter transfers or turnout among reform-minded blocs potentially tipping the outcome before election day.
