Romania's political landscape remains highly fragmented following the May 5 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and collapsed the pro-European coalition. President Nicușor Dan has initiated formal consultations with parliamentary parties to identify a candidate capable of securing a majority for investiture, with options including technocratic or minority arrangements amid ongoing budget and EU-funding pressures. This uncertainty has kept implied probabilities tightly distributed across numerous figures, as no single contender has yet consolidated sufficient cross-party support in the fractured legislature. Upcoming negotiations could shift trader assessments if a viable parliamentary majority emerges or if key parties clarify their positions on austerity measures and coalition terms.

To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
