Chiang Wan-an, the incumbent KMT mayor seeking re-election in Taiwan's November 28, 2026 local elections, holds a commanding position in the Taipei mayoral race due to sustained polling leads of more than 20 points over the DPP nominee Puma Shen and limited competition from other candidates. His visibility in organizing recent KMT events, advancing party legislative priorities, and topping early 2028 presidential preference surveys has reinforced perceptions of broad voter support across demographics. The market's heavy weighting toward Chiang reflects this incumbency advantage and the absence of major recent disruptions in candidate coordination or public sentiment. Potential shifts could arise from intensified opposition turnout efforts, unexpected scandals, or late alliance realignments among smaller parties before the November vote.
