Ann Kao, the incumbent Hsinchu mayor backed by the Taiwan People's Party, holds overwhelming trader consensus at 89.5% due to her recent acquittal on corruption charges, reinstatement in December 2025, and cross-party support from the Kuomintang, which opted not to nominate a rival candidate in the city for the 2026 local elections. This positioning reflects her established local profile from the 2022 victory and the absence of major competing challengers with comparable visibility or resources. Lower-priced outcomes such as Chuang Ching-cheng and Ho Chih-yung at single-digit levels align with limited reported momentum or party infrastructure for those contenders. Key upcoming catalysts include candidate registration deadlines and any late primary or alliance developments that could alter the field before voting.
