Romania's fractured parliament and the May 5, 2026, no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have left no party with a ready majority, driving tight trader pricing around 18% for leading contenders Șerban Matei and Delia Velculescu. President Nicușor Dan's ongoing consultations with parliamentary groups ahead of a possible nomination next week keep the field open, as any viable candidate must secure cross-party support for investiture. The close spread among technocratic and party figures reflects uncertainty over coalition talks and the preference for a stable government amid recent austerity disputes, with further separation likely only after formal announcements or clear majority signals emerge.

To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
