Romania's fractured parliament following the May 5 no-confidence vote that ousted Ilie Bolojan's centrist coalition has left no clear majority, prompting President Nicușor Dan to begin formal party consultations aimed at securing investiture for a successor. This fragmented landscape, where Social Democrats, liberals, and smaller groups must negotiate amid fiscal pressures and EU funding concerns, underpins trader consensus around Delia Velculescu and Șerban Matei as frontrunners while keeping alternatives like Sorin Grindeanu or Cătălin Predoiu in contention. Upcoming talks on parliamentary support and potential technocratic options could quickly shift probabilities by clarifying viable coalition paths ahead of the market's late-May resolution window.

To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
