Incumbent Democrat Derek Tran faces Republican Chuong Vo in the November 3, 2026, general election for California's 45th congressional district. The seat's modest Democratic lean, reflected in recent presidential voting margins around four points, combined with Tran's incumbency advantage following his 2024 victory, underpins the strong trader consensus favoring the Democratic nominee. California's June 2 top-two primary confirmed the matchup, with Tran securing over 53 percent and Vo emerging as the leading Republican amid a split GOP field. Forecasters rate the contest as Lean or Likely Democratic, citing fundraising disparities where Tran holds millions in reserves against Vo's lower totals. No major developments have shifted positioning in recent weeks, though the race remains part of broader midterm dynamics affecting House control.
