Recent polling for New Zealand’s November 7, 2026 general election shows Labour and National running neck-and-neck in party support, with neither bloc assured of a majority and smaller parties such as the Opportunity Party potentially holding balance-of-power influence. Christopher Luxon’s National-led coalition has faced sustained cost-of-living pressures and internal strains, culminating in a mid-August confidence vote that Luxon survived but which underscored party divisions. Chris Hipkins maintains competitive preferred-prime-minister ratings and benefits from Labour’s positioning as the main opposition alternative. These dynamics produce the market’s modest edge for Hipkins over Luxon, while low probabilities for other listed figures reflect their limited prospects of leading a government-forming party after the election.
