Incumbent Republican Mike Bost faces Democratic nominee Julie Fortier in Illinois’s 12th congressional district, a solidly Republican seat covering southern Illinois and southeastern St. Louis exurbs including Carbondale, Marion, and O’Fallon. Bost secured reelection in 2024 by more than 48 points and holds an established fundraising and organizational advantage as the long-serving representative. The district’s R+22 partisan lean and history of strong Republican performance underpin trader consensus for a GOP victory. With primaries concluded and no major late-cycle developments or scandals reported, the primary risks to the current outlook remain a historically unprecedented national Democratic wave or an unforeseen health or legal issue affecting the incumbent before November 3.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
