A recent forecast shift has elevated expectations for San Francisco's September 9 high, with models now projecting a heat wave driven by a departing low-pressure system and lingering tropical moisture that weakens the typical onshore sea breeze and marine layer cooling. Light winds, clearing skies by midday, and subsidence under high pressure favor greater daytime heating, pushing downtown readings into the upper 80s or low 90s per National Weather Service and ensemble guidance. Trader consensus around 86–91°F reflects this consensus while acknowledging model spread on exact sea-breeze strength and afternoon cloud timing, with resolution hinging on official observations from downtown stations. Historical September maxima near 70–75°F underscore the anomaly.
