**Recent National Weather Service and private forecasts converge on a Wednesday, September 9 high near 91 °F for Houston, with showers and thunderstorms likely after midday.** This pattern—driven by easterly flow, high humidity, and afternoon sea-breeze or convective activity—typically limits peak temperatures by increasing cloud cover and evaporative cooling once storms develop. Current model guidance and local office products place the most probable outcome in the lower 90s, aligning closely with the market’s leading 90-91 °F bin (39.5 % implied probability) and the secondary 88-89 °F and 92-93 °F ranges. September climatology shows an average daily high of roughly 90.5 °F, so the forecast reflects near-normal conditions rather than an anomalous heat surge. Recent days have featured mid-90s readings under partly sunny skies with lower storm coverage; the shift toward higher PoP (30–70 %) on the 9th is the key near-term catalyst keeping probabilities centered on 90-91 °F. Traders appear to be weighting the risk that stronger or earlier convection could shave a degree or two versus the chance that delayed storms allow a brief push into the low 90s. No major model disagreements or sudden pattern changes have emerged in the last 24–48 hours. Updated NWS Houston/Galveston guidance and ensemble output through early September 7 continue to support the current consensus, with resolution hinging on the exact timing and coverage of afternoon convection on the 9th.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=khou
This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button.
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
