Recent National Weather Service and model guidance points to a high of 78–80°F for Chicago on September 7, 2026, with inland areas reaching the upper end and lake-adjacent locations limited to the mid-70s due to easterly flow and lake moderation. This follows several days of above-normal heat in early September and aligns with the long-term average high of 79°F. Trader sentiment remains split between the 78–79°F and 80–81°F bins because small differences in cloud cover, wind direction, or the strength of the lake breeze could shift the official daily maximum across the 80°F threshold. Updated NWS forecasts and afternoon observations on September 6–7 will provide the final data for resolution.
