Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a high of 75–79°F for Chicago on September 9, with widespread showers, high humidity, and west-to-northwest winds limiting afternoon warming. This follows an early-September heat wave that pushed daily maxima above 90°F but has since yielded to a cooler air mass. The implied probabilities cluster around 78–81°F because these brackets align with the forecast consensus and historical normals near 78.6°F, while the elevated rain chance reduces upside potential for readings above 82°F. Traders appear to weigh the latest model runs showing limited destabilization and no strong warm advection against the slight risk of breaks in cloud cover.
