Recent National Weather Service forecasts and supporting model guidance project an overnight low of 57–58°F for San Francisco on September 20, driven by persistent marine-layer clouds, light onshore westerly flow, and dew points near 54–56°F that limit radiational cooling. This places the expected minimum squarely in the 56–57°F bin, aligning with its dominant 76.5% market-implied probability. Typical September climatology shows an average low near 55.8°F, so current conditions reflect modest above-normal warmth from suppressed clear-sky cooling rather than any anomalous heat wave. With resolution imminent and no significant forecast shifts anticipated before dawn, traders have converged on this narrow range while assigning lower but non-zero odds to cooler outcomes should localized clearing develop.
