Trump’s approval rating sits near a second-term low around 36-38 percent, weighed down by the protracted Iran conflict and elevated energy prices. Recent early-August polls from multiple firms show net approval near or below -20, reflecting public fatigue with military actions resumed in mid-July and related economic pressures. This week’s closely balanced 52 percent implied probability for an increase stems from the potential for short-term volatility in polling samples amid routine developments such as executive actions, travel, or diplomatic statements, offset by the entrenched downward trend. Positive catalysts could include any verifiable de-escalation signals on Iran or favorable economic data releases, while renewed conflict developments or persistent inflation concerns would likely reinforce downward pressure on weekly readings.
