Tyler Robinson faces aggravated murder charges in Utah for the September 2025 shooting death of Charlie Kirk, with prosecutors presenting DNA matches on the rifle, cartridge casings, a confession note to his roommate, and video evidence of his movements during a July 2026 preliminary hearing. Defense counsel has challenged the reliability of forensic testing, sought to limit media coverage, and contested the death penalty over alleged prosecutorial statements. No plea has been entered, no trial date set, and the judge has yet to rule on probable cause or other pretrial motions as of early August 2026. These procedural hurdles, evidentiary disputes, and the capital case timeline contribute to trader consensus favoring no conviction by year-end.
