Recent forecasts from National Weather Service models indicate a cooler air mass advecting into the Chicago region ahead of September 14, with southeast winds and increased cloud cover limiting daytime insolation and capping highs near 70–74°F. This setup follows a warmer weekend pattern and aligns with ensemble consensus showing suppressed temperatures relative to the 1991–2020 climatological average high of 76.7°F. Key variables include boundary layer moisture, wind direction shifts, and any late adjustments in the GFS or ECMWF runs that could alter the peak by a degree or two. Market-implied odds reflect this tight clustering around 70–73°F as traders weigh the latest model guidance and historical analogs for mid-September conditions.
