Typical late-summer conditions feature a subtropical ridge promoting diurnal heating, with sea-breeze circulation from the warm Atlantic and Gulf waters often capping peaks near 90-92°F while scattered afternoon thunderstorms can further limit maximum temperatures through cloud cover and evaporative cooling. Recent cooling from an earlier heat wave that produced a record-tying 100°F reading on August 18 has returned conditions closer to the August climatological average high of 89-91°F, reducing the chance of extreme outliers. Model consensus shows limited variability ahead of the resolution window, with any shift in steering flow or moisture likely determining whether the high settles in the 90-91°F or 92-93°F bin.
