Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago indicate a Saturday low near 65–67°F amid showers and a southeasterly flow, well above the 1991–2020 average of 57°F, yet trader odds remain split between sub-55°F and 74°F+ outcomes because model runs still differ on the timing and strength of an approaching cold front. Key variables include the depth of post-frontal cooling, boundary-layer mixing, and Lake Michigan’s moderating influence on overnight temperatures, which can shift the minimum by several degrees depending on wind direction and cloud cover. With resolution only two days away, updated NWS model guidance and evening soundings will likely tighten the distribution around the current consensus range.
