Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance for Seattle point to overnight lows in the mid-50s Fahrenheit on September 12, near the 1991–2020 climatological average of 53.7°F, amid a mild marine air mass and light onshore flow. This baseline supports the near-even market split between the 47°F-or-below and 66°F-or-higher outcomes, as small shifts in cloud cover, wind direction, or the timing of any weak frontal passage could push the minimum several degrees either way. Higher-resolution runs continue to show modest spread in boundary-layer mixing and dew-point depression, keeping both tails viable until the next 00Z and 12Z model cycles narrow the range. Traders are therefore weighting the resolution criteria—official Sea-Tac minimum—against the narrow window before the event.
