The Quebec provincial election scheduled for October 5, 2026, has just entered its formal campaign phase after Premier Christine Fréchette dissolved the National Assembly. Paul St-Pierre Plamondon’s Parti Québécois maintains a clear lead in aggregated polling and seat projections, driven by sustained strength among francophone voters and a series of byelection gains that have positioned the party to secure a plurality or majority. Fréchette, who succeeded François Legault as CAQ leader and premier in April following her own leadership victory, faces headwinds from voter fatigue after eight years of CAQ governance and external pressures including U.S. trade tensions. Charles Milliard’s Liberals and Éric Duhaime’s Conservatives trail further back in overall support, while smaller-party figures such as Ruba Ghazal, Bernard Drainville, and Sol Zanetti register minimal probabilities consistent with their parties’ lower polling positions. The current pricing embeds the view that recent polling trends and the first-past-the-post dynamics favor the PQ leader forming the next government unless late-campaign shifts occur.
