Lars Markus Hildingsson leads the market at 82% implied probability due to his nomination by the Social Democrats ahead of Sweden’s September 13, 2026 regional elections and his demonstrated influence as opposition vice chair during recent governance turbulence in Region Blekinge. Current chair Björn Tenland Nurhadi (SD) assumed the role in 2025 after Robert Lindén’s departure amid coalition strains with Moderates, economic pressures, and documented instability that weakened the incumbent bloc’s position. Traders appear to price in a likely post-election shift toward Social Democratic leadership or a new majority, consistent with Hildingsson’s union background and recent district roles that position him as the frontrunner for the chair taking office by March 2027. Lower probabilities for candidates such as Hanna Ekblad (M) at 7% and others reflect limited momentum for alternatives in the current consensus.
