This market will resolve based on the highest wind speed, in miles per hour, reported on the summit of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire in August, 2026. The resolution source will be data published by the Mt. Washington Weather Observatory. F6 reports containing daily wind speed recordings can be found here: https://mountwashington.org/weather/mount-washington-weather-archives/monthly-f6/. The resolution source for this market measures wind speeds to whole mile per hour (eg, 67mph). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to the wind speed recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following month has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Unusually calm early-August conditions on Mount Washington, driven by persistent high pressure and minimal synoptic forcing, represent the main factor shaping trader views on the month's peak wind gust. Official observations from the Mount Washington Observatory show gusts reaching only 51 mph through mid-month—among the lowest on record for the period—with average speeds near 14.5 mph. This contrasts with historical August maxima exceeding 140 mph, such as the 147 mph gust recorded in 2020. Sustained monitoring of frontal passages or strengthening pressure gradients through the remainder of the month, particularly any late-summer storm systems, will determine whether winds exceed these subdued early readings before resolution.
