Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a highest temperature in the upper 70s to mid-80s across Los Angeles on September 5, driven by persistent onshore flow and a moderating marine layer that limits inland heating despite sunny conditions. Downtown and urban sites typically run several degrees warmer than coastal stations like LAX, creating the tight clustering around 78–81°F in trader odds. Historical September averages near 77°F and recent stable high-pressure patterns support this range, while minor model differences in boundary-layer moisture and wind speed explain the split between the two leading bins. Updated NWS briefings and afternoon observations on September 4 will provide the clearest signal ahead of market resolution.
