Wisconsin’s Democratic primary for governor on August 11 features a tight contest in Milwaukee County between state Rep. Francesca Hong and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, the two leading contenders among the remaining field that includes Joel Brennan and Kelda Roys. Hong, a democratic socialist from Madison, holds a statewide polling edge but faces a local challenge from Crowley, who draws on his county executive role, prior Assembly service, and endorsements from Milwaukee-area officials. Recent candidate debates and campaign finance reports have highlighted differences in style and base, with Crowley emphasizing mainstream Democratic priorities and turnout in urban and suburban areas. The abbreviated timeline before voting leaves limited room for major shifts, though late endorsements or turnout efforts could influence the county outcome.
