Romania's recent government collapse following a May no-confidence vote against interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has intensified consultations led by President Nicușor Dan to secure parliamentary backing for a successor. Trader positioning favors Delia Velculescu at the top of the field because her IMF background and technocratic profile align with the president's stated preference for a candidate likely to win confirmation without risking further instability or early elections. Other names such as Șerban Matei and Sorin Grindeanu reflect party-based alternatives under discussion, while lower probabilities for figures like Radu Burnete and Cătălin Predoiu track limited momentum in current coalition talks. The market reflects ongoing negotiations focused on fiscal reforms and pro-EU continuity, with resolution expected around the end of May.
