Denmark's incumbent Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen maintains a leading position among traders due to her Social Democrats securing the largest number of seats in the March 2026 parliamentary election, even as the left-leaning bloc fell short of a majority. Recent coalition negotiations among centre-left parties collapsed in early May, leading King Frederik X to ask Liberal Party leader Troels Lund Poulsen to explore a centre-right government without Social Democrat participation. Fragmented parliamentary support, historical precedents for cross-bloc deals, and ongoing talks among moderates and conservatives continue to influence assessments of who will ultimately secure the necessary backing to form the next administration.
