This market will resolve according to the next individual to formally assume the position of Attorney General of the United States between market creation and January 19, 2029, 11:59 PM ET. A person will be considered to formally assume the position of Attorney General of the United States if they are appointed to the position by the President and confirmed by the Senate, or if they assume the position through a recess appointment. Acting or interim holders of the specified position do not qualify. If no individual assumes the position by January 19, 2029 at 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the White House or United States Senate; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Todd Blanche leads trader sentiment as the frontrunner for Attorney General due to his role as acting head since April 2026 and President Trump’s formal nomination in early June. Senate Judiciary Committee hearings occurred in mid-July, yet the confirmation vote has been delayed amid concerns from Republican senators over Justice Department actions and demands for additional information. This procedural uncertainty keeps implied probabilities from rising further despite Blanche’s institutional position. Other named candidates remain clustered near even odds, reflecting limited movement toward alternatives while the nomination process remains active but unresolved. Upcoming committee actions and any holds will likely determine whether the acting attorney general secures permanent confirmation or prompts renewed speculation about replacements.
