Recent forecasts from MetService and international models indicate a high near 14–15°C for Wellington on September 20, driven by a shift from northwesterlies to southerly winds that limit daytime warming and introduce a chance of showers. Spring climatology for the region centers on 13–15°C maxima, with southerly flows often suppressing temperatures by 1–2°C relative to northerly regimes. Current model consensus shows modest instability and cloud cover moderating peaks, keeping 16°C or higher less likely while supporting the market’s emphasis on 14–15°C outcomes. Updated runs ahead of the date will refine wind and precipitation details critical to the daily maximum.
