Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance indicates San Francisco's overnight low on September 20 will settle in the upper 50s under persistent marine-layer stratus and moderate onshore flow from the Pacific. This setup, reinforced by a weak trough and typical September climatology, suppresses radiative cooling while preventing stronger offshore warming, keeping minimum temperatures near the 1991–2020 average of 55.8 °F. With the market heavily weighted toward the 56–57 °F bin, traders are pricing the high probability that official observations at downtown or airport stations will resolve in that narrow range rather than testing the historical record low of 50 °F.
