Israeli operations remain focused on establishing and maintaining security zones in southern Lebanon amid a U.S.-mediated framework for phased withdrawals and Lebanese Army deployments in pilot areas. A June 2026 ceasefire and subsequent talks in Rome have produced limited handovers but persistent violations, including Hezbollah drone attacks and Israeli retaliatory strikes in August that have killed and wounded personnel on both sides. Hezbollah has rejected full disarmament conditions tied to further Israeli pullbacks, while diplomatic efforts continue to prioritize border stabilization over northern advances. Trader sentiment reflects these constraints, with any move toward Beirut hinging on breakdown of the current process or major escalation that has not materialized in recent months.
