The decisive factor shaping trader consensus around Janez Janša is the stalled government-formation process after Slovenia’s March 2026 parliamentary election. Incumbent Robert Golob’s Freedom Movement secured a narrow plurality of 29 seats but failed to assemble a majority coalition by mid-April, opening the path for Janša’s Slovenian Democratic Party and its center-right partners to pursue a simple-majority confirmation in the National Assembly. This procedural sequence, combined with the right-leaning bloc’s 43-seat advantage, has produced the current pricing. Scenarios that could still alter the outcome include last-minute defections by smaller parties, renewed talks triggered by a failed confirmation vote, or a snap election if coalition negotiations collapse.
