**Forecast models from MetService and global ensembles show northwesterly flow advecting milder air into Wellington on September 2, supporting a daytime maximum near 15–16 °C under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.** Strong winds (20–25 knots) will mix the boundary layer and limit further warming, while clear overnight conditions keep minimums in the low teens. Historical September averages hover around 13–14 °C, so the current setup represents a modest positive anomaly driven by the ridge and wind direction rather than anomalous heat. Ensemble spread remains modest but includes a tail toward 17 °C if mixing is stronger than expected or a slight downside to 14–15 °C if cloud increases earlier. The market’s heavy weighting toward 16 °C reflects this consensus range, with the next model runs and any late adjustments to the surface pressure gradient likely to refine the exact peak.
