This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's fractured parliament and the May 5 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have created a fragmented field for the next premier, with President Nicușor Dan now holding consultations to identify a candidate who can secure majority support. No single party holds enough seats for an easy coalition, prompting traders to price in multiple contenders and raising the odds of a technocratic or independent nominee who can bridge divides among centrist and opposition groups. Recent statements from the president emphasize avoiding experiments and focusing on viable parliamentary backing, while ongoing talks with parties including PNL, PSD, and others could shift probabilities quickly. Any announcement of a clear majority or formal nomination within the coming weeks would likely separate frontrunners by clarifying which figures command the necessary cross-party backing.
