**Anne Hathaway leads early trader sentiment for the 2027 Oscars Best Supporting Actress race at 39.5% implied probability, driven by Universal’s decision to campaign her as Penelope in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” a high-profile studio epic with strong box-office traction.** Penélope Cruz sits second at 14.5% on the strength of her supporting turns in the Cannes Best Director winner “La Bola Negra” (Spain’s International Feature submission) and A24’s “The Invite.” The wide field reflects a pre-festival stage where ensemble opportunities in titles like “Wild Horse Nine,” “Project Hail Mary,” and “Digger” keep names such as Mariana di Girolamo, Sandra Hüller, and Margaret Qualley in play. Historical Academy patterns favor established performers in visible studio or auteur projects, but category placement decisions, guild nominations, and critical reception at fall festivals remain key swing factors before January 2027 nominations.
