The open seat created by incumbent Republican Ashley Hinson’s Senate bid has tightened the contest for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, where the district’s modest Republican lean is offset by strong Democratic recruitment and recent fundraising parity. Both parties face contested June 2 primaries, with Republicans fielding state Sen. Charlie McClintock and former state Rep. Joe Mitchell, while Democrats feature state Rep. Lindsay James, Kathryn Dolter, and Clint Twedt-Ball. Recent candidate forums and early-quarter reports showing competitive cash on hand for leading contenders have sustained trader parity. Any separation will likely hinge on primary outcomes, subsequent general-election polling, national midterm sentiment, and late-cycle spending in this northeastern Iowa battleground.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
