Iowa's 3rd congressional district stands as one of the most competitive House races in the 2026 midterms, with incumbent Republican Zach Nunn facing Democratic state Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott after both cleared their primaries. Trader sentiment favoring Democrats aligns with Cook Political Report's toss-up rating, driven by recent polls showing Democratic challengers ahead and concerns over federal tariffs weighing on the district's agriculture-dependent economy. Nunn's narrow 2024 victory and limited overperformance leave him exposed in a shifting environment, while Democratic fundraising and national midterm dynamics add pressure. The June 2 primary and November general election timeline keep focus on turnout in the Des Moines metro suburbs and rural areas.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
