Recent forecasts from agencies including MetService and international models indicate a transition to westerly to northwesterly flow over Wellington around September 1, supporting daytime highs near 12–13°C but overnight radiative cooling under partly cloudy skies that could produce a minimum in the 6–8°C range. Recent late-August observations show several nights dipping to 4–6°C amid stronger southerly intrusions, providing a climatological analog that keeps lower outcomes in play despite the current model consensus favoring milder conditions. Wind speeds of 20–40 km/h may limit extreme cooling, while any late shift to lighter southerlies or clearer skies could push the daily low toward or below 5°C. With resolution dependent on official station readings, traders appear to balance the narrow historical spread around early-spring minima against short-term forecast uncertainty in the final model runs.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the lowest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=nzwn
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C.
This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
