Pamela Evette secured the plurality in South Carolina’s June 9 Republican primary for governor with roughly 29 percent of the vote in an open race created by term limits on incumbent Henry McMaster, advancing to a June 23 runoff against Attorney General Alan Wilson. Her position reflects strong trader consensus on the first-round outcome, supported by President Trump’s endorsement, her role as lieutenant governor, and a fragmented field that included U.S. Representatives Ralph Norman and Nancy Mace plus businessman Rom Reddy. No candidate reached a majority, triggering the runoff, yet partial and projected results leave minimal room for Evette to finish outside first place. Late tabulation adjustments or successful legal challenges remain the primary variables that could still alter the recorded first-round winner.
