The upcoming September 27, 2026, French Senate election renews 178 série 2 seats through an indirect vote by an electoral college of mayors and local councillors. Union Centriste currently holds 59 seats within the centre-right majority alongside Les Républicains. Trader probabilities cluster tightly across 53-67 seat outcomes because projected net changes hinge on department-level results from the March 2026 municipal contests and centrist alliance cohesion, with limited aggregate shifts anticipated. Fragmented candidate lists and variable local turnout in contested departments sustain uncertainty. Stronger centrist performances in key swing departments or clarified post-election alliances could push totals higher, while weaker results or Republican gains in overlapping races could cap the group nearer current levels.
