National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model consensus currently favor a daytime high near 88–90°F for Austin on May 20 under a warm, dry air mass and strong high-pressure ridge promoting intense solar heating with light southerly winds and minimal cloud cover. This setup aligns with typical late-May climatology, where average highs reach 85–87°F, yet recent upper-air patterns show slightly above-normal 850-hPa temperatures that support the upper end of the range. Traders are therefore weighting outcomes around 85–90°F most heavily, reflecting the narrow uncertainty window only two days before the observation at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Any late-model shift toward increased moisture or a weak frontal passage could lower the realized maximum, while continued subsidence would reinforce the current consensus.
