This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Chicago O'Hare Intl Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 1 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the lowest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=kord This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Current forecasts from sources like WeatherBug and others indicate a low in the mid-to-upper 70s°F for Chicago on September 1, 2026, amid hot, humid conditions with highs near 89–94°F and southwest winds.** This aligns with trader sentiment clustering around 74–77°F ranges (27% each for the top bins), reflecting model consensus on a lingering warm air mass without significant cooling mechanisms. Key scientific factors include high dew points limiting overnight radiative cooling, persistent southerly flow advecting Gulf moisture, and only modest cloud cover or isolated showers that may not drop temperatures much below 75°F. Historical September 1 normals (~64°F low) contrast sharply with the current pattern, where early-season heat keeps minima elevated; slight differences in forecast clearing times or wind speeds explain the tight spread across 70–79°F outcomes. Upcoming NWS or model updates (e.g., evening runs) could refine the exact minimum, but the setup favors a warm night with low probability of dipping into the upper 60s. Market-implied odds capture this near-term forecast uncertainty effectively.
