Jozef Viskupič holds the leading position in the Trnava Region gubernatorial race due to his incumbency since 2017 and a broad coalition backing that includes Progresívne Slovensko, SaS, KDH, Demokrati, Hnutie Slovensko, OKS, and Magyar Fórum. Traders price his prospects highest following his June 2026 re-candidacy announcement, which highlighted completed debt reduction, infrastructure upgrades, and planned projects in healthcare, social services, and cycling routes ahead of the October 24 vote. Peter Hambálek, the Smer-Hlas-SNS-Republika nominee announced in July, trails as the main opposition challenger with narrower regional support. József Berényi and several other registered candidates, including independents, register minimal implied probability given limited party infrastructure and voter bases in the seven-district self-governing region. Recent candidate registration of seven contenders in early September has not materially altered the consensus around the incumbent's structural advantages.
