Incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva maintains a dominant position in Paraíba for first place in the October 4 first round, reflecting longstanding voter alignment in the Northeast with the Workers’ Party and his administration’s policy priorities. Recent political developments, including Chamber of Deputies Speaker Hugo Motta’s August endorsement of Lula’s reelection bid amid local coalition arrangements, reinforce this regional base. National polling trends show Lula ahead of Flávio Bolsonaro and other challengers by double digits, with opposition votes fragmented across multiple candidates. Traders price in limited upside for alternatives given structural advantages for the incumbent in this state. Late shifts remain possible from turnout swings, economic developments, or campaign events before election day.
