Chen Su-yueh, the DPP-nominated legislator, leads trader consensus in the 2026 Changhua County magistrate race due to her established party backing and positioning against a divided opposition field. KMT candidate Wei Ping-cheng, recently drafted by the party's Central Standing Committee after months of deliberation, trails amid ongoing concerns over local consolidation, including the incumbent magistrate Wang Hui-mei's limited visibility at recent KMT events. Independent or former DPP contender Chiu Chien-fu registers lower odds following his party resignation and primary-related decision to run separately. The November 28 election timeline leaves room for shifts driven by candidate integration efforts, turnout dynamics in key townships, and any late campaign developments.
