Byron Donalds secured the Republican nomination for Florida governor in the August 18, 2026 primary with approximately 47.8% of the vote against a fragmented field that included Lt. Gov. Jay Collins at 25.2%. Trader sentiment reflected his sustained polling leads of 35–45% in the final weeks, driven by President Trump’s May endorsement, record fundraising exceeding $100 million, and the absence of a GOP debate after rivals failed qualification thresholds. The crowded field of candidates such as Collins, Paul Renner, and James Fishback split opposition support, while DeSantis’s term limit and limited engagement left the race without a unified alternative. Final certified tallies and any remaining ballot issues now determine exact vote-share resolution.
