Recent July ISM Services PMI data at 54.1, modestly below consensus yet little changed from June, anchors trader focus for the August reading ahead of the September 3 release. Strong business activity (59.1) and new orders (57.2) indices contrast with renewed employment contraction (47.4) and elevated prices (70.3), while manufacturing PMI accelerated to 55.6. Temporary World Cup-driven demand and fading tariff or geopolitical mentions introduce uncertainty about normalization in services activity. With probabilities tightly clustered across the 53–57 range, outcomes hinge on upcoming labor-market releases, inflation prints, and any post-event demand shifts that could sustain expansion near recent averages or moderate readings.
