Recent July ISM Manufacturing PMI strength at 55.6—the highest since May 2022—anchors trader sentiment for the August reading, reflecting broad-based gains in new orders, production, and employment returning to expansion after 33 months. Market-implied odds cluster tightly around 54.0–55.9, implying modest moderation from the July surge amid persistent input cost pressures and tariff-related uncertainties. Strong backlog growth and AI-driven capital spending support resilience, while inventory replenishment and labor market improvements provide offsets. The closely matched probabilities around the 54–56 range highlight uncertainty over whether momentum sustains or normalizes ahead of the September 1 release.
