Hsu Shu-hua, the Kuomintang incumbent magistrate of Nantou County, holds an 88.5% implied probability in the market, reflecting her established position ahead of the November 2026 local elections. As the sitting officeholder since 2022 with prior legislative experience, she benefits from incumbency advantages, strong party organizational support, and the county’s consistent pan-blue voting patterns in magistrate races. Wen Shih-cheng, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee, trails at 11.5%, consistent with limited reported challenges and the structural barriers for opposition candidates in the area. Recent campaign activity, including Wen’s May 2026 statements opposing a planned incinerator project in favor of alternative waste solutions, has not shifted broader positioning. Traders price in these factors while noting that primary outcomes or late developments could still affect the field before voting.
