The Democratic Party’s governing momentum after its 2025 presidential victory continues to shape expectations ahead of the June 3 parliamentary by-elections, where the People Power Party contests a limited slate of seats alongside nationwide local elections. Recent nomination filings and competitive three-way races in districts such as Busan highlight PPP internal strains, including expulsions and independent candidacies, while the ruling party benefits from stronger organizational reach and voter turnout patterns. These dynamics position three seats as the leading outcome in trader assessments, consistent with opposition performance benchmarks in similar by-election cycles, though outcomes in a handful of swing districts could still shift final totals before voting day.
